Elizabeth Phagan of Farmers Insurance announced that the local agency is now offering Farmers Identity Shield, a comprehensive package of coverage and services to help combat identity theft.

“Identity theft is the fastest growing crime in the United States,” Phagan said. “It impacts people of all walks of life, In fact, it is so common today, that most people know someone close to them who has been a victim of identity theft. That is why Farmers is introducing comprehensive identity theft coverage.

“Farmers Identity Shield not only helps you restore your identity after an identity fraud, but also provides the tools to alert you when such activity begins. Those who have experienced its devastating effects know how hard it is to fix and how much time it takes,” she said.

Identity Shield includes a 24/7 advocate to guide and assist victims. An expert also is on call to answer any questions policyholders may have about identity theft.

“There is much more, including assistance in replacing lost, stolen or damaged identification  documents and prevention tips,”  she said.

For information on getting the Identity Theft Shield contact Phagan at her Douglas office at the corner of 10th Street and San Antonio.
