Students and prospective students can now apply for several thousand dollars in new scholarships administered through the Cochise College Foundation. Some scholarships are available for this semester, and others will be awarded for the 2008-2009 academic year.

New scholarships available for the 2008-2009 academic year include several provided through the Cochise Community Foundation and the Arizona Community Foundation. The Carol Hopkins Scholarship will award $500 per year to a Douglas High School graduating senior enrolled in a science-related program at Cochise College. The Estellean Wick Scholarship will provide $900 per year to Adult Education and/or Hispanic applicants transitioning to and enrolling in Cochise College courses for credit. The Helen Dyar King Scholarship will award $2,000 per year to an active, former member of, or child or grandchild of a member of the military, law enforcement, fire service, U.S. Park Service, U.S. Fish and Wildlife, or U.S. Forest Service. The Jerome and Gale Glaser Scholarship will award $2,000 per year to a full-time student in any field of study at Cochise College. In addition, the Women's and Children's Hope Foundation Scholarships will provide awards of $750 per semester, or $1,500 per year, to two graduating seniors from Douglas High School and two graduating seniors from Bisbee High School who enroll full time at Cochise College. The Cochise College Foundation awarded more than $365,000 in scholarships last year. Scholarships are provided by donors and do not have to be repaid. The foundation is a 501(c)3, tax-exempt organization, overseen by a volunteer board of directors, that promotes student success through scholarships, facilities development, and program support.
