Play Day in Douglas on April 12

Published/Last Modified on Wednesday, April 9, 2008 3:06 PM MDT

COCHISE COUNTY – The Cochise County Health Department is telling you and your family to get out and play.  Get Out and Play Day, sponsored by the Douglas Recreation Division, Cochise County Health Department, and Douglas Police Explorers Post #454, is a FREE day of fun and outdoor games for the whole family.  The Play Day takes place at the Douglas Airport Park this Saturday, April 12, 2008, from 9:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m.

Suzanne Hagle, Program Manager for Project BUTT, stated that this event came about for a number of reasons.  “We wanted to do something unique for ‘Kick Butts Day,’ which is a day that promotes quitting tobacco.  We also wanted to work with the community to promote overall healthy choices.”

Activities include dodge ball, kite flying, tag, hula hooping, obstacle courses and other games. Kids and families are encouraged to make healthy lifestyle choices – avoiding tobacco and other substances, being physically active, and spending quality time with each other.

Believe it or not, there are other games to play besides video! For more information about Get Out and Play Day, contact Jesus Duarte at 805-5607. So get out and play and have some fun in Douglas this Saturday morning at Airport Park.
