SIERRA VISTA — One man is dead, and another was transported by air to University Medical Center in Tucson after a Wednesday night accident north of the unincorporated Double Adobe community.

Salvador Garcia was pronounced dead at the scene after the Nissan Frontier he was driving was struck by a Chevy Silverado driven by George Adcock, Cochise County Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman Carol Capas said.

Deputies responded to the crash at about 9 p.m., after the Silverado northbound on Frontier Road failed to stop at the intersection of Davis Road, and collided with the Nissan that was eastbound on Davis, Capas said.

Adcock’s condition at UMC was not available from the hospital’s media relations office as of press time Thursday.

" It is my understanding that the accident happened at Davis and Cnetral Hwy. Mr. Adcock never stopped at the stop sign and blew thru the intersection at 80 mph. It is unknown whether he was under the influence of alcohol or not. Mr. Adcock is in ICU in Tucson, ruptured spleen and bone broke in his neck...unforunately Mr. Garcia died on the scene. My condolences go out to his family. "
