College to host lecture about Islam

Azra Hussain of the Islamic Speakers Bureau of Arizona will present two lectures on Islam at Cochise College April 22 and 23. The lectures are free and open to the public.


The Islamic Speakers Bureau of Arizona (ISBA) is a non-profit, apolitical, educational organization founded in 1999. ISBA is an outreach institution that provides education about Islam and Muslims, promotes interfaith dialogue, and is a local affiliate of Islamic Networks Group (ING) in San Jose, Calif.

 Hussain will talk about Islamic beliefs, history, terminology, Jihad, holidays, and demographics.

The first presentation will take place from 4:45 to 6 p.m. Tuesday, April 22 in the Little Theatre at the Douglas Campus. A second lecture is scheduled for 9 to 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, April 23 in the Horace Steele Conference Room at the library on the Sierra Vista Campus.

The event is sponsored by the Cochise College TRIO Student Support Services office and the Social/Behavioral Sciences Department. For more information, call (520) 417-4708 or (520) 417-4012.
