A simulated drive-through at the Douglas Port of Entry helps agents with improving their response time to these incidents. A drive-through is when a drug smuggler drives through the U.S. port at a high speed in an attempt to escape into Mexico from US law enforcement. On April 11, law enforcers at the port, the Border Patrol, ICE and Douglas police, along with officers from Mexico, were responding to a mock incident, where agents extracted a “smuggler’ from a vehicle.

" It is easy to criticize and say what should be done, but you are not the ones out there with the badge and gun having to make a split second decision what to do. It is true this picture night not portray the perfect scenario, but at least these fine officers are the ones that try day in and day out to keep narcotics, weapons, illegals, and most importantly, terroists out of our backyard. So instead of mocking ou rofficers at the Port of Entry, try and show some support. "

" So much for officer safety for the guy on the left side. "High risk stop" is much safer. Common sense not to approach vehicle without getting driver out first. Give commands through the "PA." Once he is in custody you ask the driver if there is anyone else inside the vehicle. Then you approach on the side with a tactical approach and clear the vehicle even if the driver says he is alone. Think people! The driver could be armed. Fight or Flight! Go home safe to your loved ones. "

" What a laugh! It's easy to simulate a vehicle drive though and get good results. Anyone who even knows anything about Douglas can tell you that on a weekly basis vehicle drive though the east and west part of know and hardly ever get caught. Just another waste of resource to make the Administation Staff at DHS happy.

    This scenerio proves nothing!!! "
