PRESIDENT’S COLUMN Community college, university partnerships: State-level activities indicate change on horizon

CONSTRUCTION UPDATE…[See the plans.]

SIERRA VISTA CAMPUS - Traffic on Charleston Road is likely to be restricted Tuesday, March 18 through Saturday, March 22 as preliminary preparations begin on construction of a new sewer line at the Sierra Vista Campus of Cochise College. Other work includes continuing addition of masonry walls, electrical conduit and underground plumbing at the site of the career-tech building, and continued excavation of the footings for the addition to the science building. Workers anticipate forming floor slabs for each building around the end of March or early April. Work also will begin shortly on Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plans associated with current campus projects; protective barriers will soon be installed to prevent mud and debris from washing onto roads during the summer months.

DOUGLAS CAMPUS – A section of the parking lot located north of the Cochise Stronghold Gymnasium is closed as workers dig a trench and install a new water line to irrigate the soccer field, which is being widened to meet tournament regulations. Most of the parking lot will remain open; however, the eastern-most section - located between the soccer field and the first row of parking spaces - will likely remain closed most of the month of March.

As always, keep an eye out for construction sites, personnel, and pedestrians.
