What was supposed to be a tri-meet ended up being a dual meet after Flowing Wells pulled out leaving the Douglas Bulldog track team to lay a 90-50 thumping on Sunnyside High School Tuesday at Armando DeLucas Stadium.

Sunnyside showed up with very little depth making it easy for the Bulldogs to score points.
In the 110-meter high hurdles Anthony Varela came in first with a time of 16.7 seconds; Robert Coronado was third at 19 seconds.
Varela was also second in the 300-intermediate hurdles posting a time of 42.4 seconds; Joel Bello was third with a 42.7.
Michael Davila won the discus with a throw of 107-feet, eight inches.
Eric Luzania came in second in the 100-meters turning in a time of 11.6 seconds. He was also second in the 200-meters posting a 24.2.
In the triple jump Adrian Leon was first with a jump of 40”0.5”. Fernando Dominquez was third with a 35’9”.
Leon and Dominguez were first and third in the long jump with jumps of 19”2.5” and 17” 3.5”.
The Bulldogs swept the top three spots in the pole vault as Bello came in first with a vault of 11’6”; Ian Fragoso was second at 10’6” and Luis Cordova third at 10-feet.
Andrew DeMelo and Alex Pedrego came in first and second in the 800-meters turning in times of 2:16 and 2:18 respectively.
Luis Martinez and Alec Irey placed first and second in the 3200 finishing with times of 11:13 and 11:28.
Irey and Martinez were first and third in the 1600-meters turning in times of 4:57 and 5:19.
Rogelio Salcido placed third in the high jump with a jump of five-feet and Abner Cortez was second in the 400-meters turning in a time of 55.3 seconds.
Aaron Hill came in second in the shot put with a throw of 38’6.5”, Robert Guerrero was third with a 37’3.5 “ inch throw.
The Bulldogs 4x800 relay team of Pedrego, Irey, Ortega and DeMelo came in first finishing with a time of 10:06.
The 4x100 relay team of David Vinson, Francisco Noriega, Kenny Cardenas and Valdemar Montiel came in first finishing with a time of 53.4 seconds.
The Bulldogs 4x400 relay team of Varela, Coronado, Cortez and DeMelo came in first posting a time of 3:44.
Bulldog track coach Ron Ellsworth Sunnyside brought only one hurdler and no relay teams.
The coach said his team did have some impressive times and performances which he hopes will carry over to Friday’s Safford Invitational.
