A total of 1,500 Carne Asada plates were sold during the Ninth annual DARC benefit at Bordermart last Friday. The funds will be used for matching funds to purchase a pickup truck and van for use by the DARC yard crews. There was a constant flow of people eager to taste the offerings at the annual event. The Carne Asada even attracted more than 40 soldiers working on the border ditch project. Pictured clockwise, from top, Joe and Darilynn Acosta. Christy Rios, Angelica Garcia and Irene Garcia prepare plates as part of two assembly lines at the event; Elzy Estrella checks the meat on his grill to see if it is ready to come off; and Carne Asada director Raul Montano makes another customer happy.
