By Xavier Zaragoza/The Daily Dispatch Douglas children and their parents spend time together during story time at the Douglas Public Library.

“I will always be grateful to the Douglas library for what it has done for my children.  No one could have wished for better introduction to what a library can be in one’s life,” said Julia Shanklin Tucker, a Douglas resident and mother of Hank and Daisy.

“We have enjoyed the story times, children workshops and puppet shows.  There is a wealth of children’s and parenting books.  The people who work there are exceptional. They are kind and helpful and are intent upon building a community and fostering a love of learning. I hope my kids see the library as a lifelong friend.”

The library offers wonderful entertainment and a learning environment every Thursday, such as Storytime, for Douglas children.

Storytime begins at 10:15 a.m. and is hosted by Curtis Foster, the library’s children’s specialists. Children can participate in song, story and crafts.

“We have a large selection of books for children of all ages – from babies and toddlers to pre-teens and teenagers,” said Victoria Yarbrough, the city librarian.  “Also available are learning games on our children’s computers, children’s audio-books and children’s videos and DVDs.”
