Truck knocks out electricity

Electricity was knocked out for some time to APS customers on the west side of Douglas last night when a semi truck knocked down several power poles.

At about  7:45 p.m. las t night, the Douglas Fire Department was called on on the incident at the corner of 18th Street and I Avenue.

Reportedly, the truck caught one of the powerline and dragged down the line with the pole with several other poles to follow.

A transformer also fell and was damaged.

There was a report of a hazardous spill, but the only spill came from the transformer which spilled mineral oil on the street-- not a hazardous substance. Several blocks around the site had to be blocked off until the problem could be repaired.
