County gas prices soar

According to the Cochise College Center for Economic Research’s latest biweekly survey of gas prices, conducted during the week of April 21, the average price of a gallon of regular unleaded gasoline in Cochise County increased to $3.43 from $3.33 over the two-week period. According to AAA Arizona, the statewide price rose from $3.29 to $3.41 per gallon. Nationally, according to the Energy Information Administration, gas prices increased from $3.33 to $3.51 during the two-week period.


Though some gas stations shows this prices, other have to maintain prices up to $3.48 or $3.49

In Benson, the price of a gallon of regular unleaded gasoline climbed from $3.41 to $3.53 per gallon. In Bisbee, the price went up during the two-week period from $3.29 to $3.40. The price in Douglas rose from $3.34 to $3.48 per gallon. In Huachuca City, the price increased from $3.38 to $3.41 per gallon. In Sierra Vista, the price of a gallon of regular unleaded gasoline increased from $3.30 to $3.42 per gallon. In Tombstone, the price went up during the two-week period from $3.32 to $3.38 per gallon. Willcox saw gas prices increase from $3.31 to $3.35 during the two-week period.

One year ago, the nationwide average price of a gallon of regular unleaded gasoline, according to the EIA, was $2.87, which is 64 cents lower than its current price. At the state level, according to AAA Arizona, the price a year ago was $2.98, which is 43 cents lower than the current price per gallon. At the county level, according to the CER survey, the price a year ago was $2.93, which is 50 cents lower than the price from the most recent survey.
