SIERRA VISTA — For the second day in a row, Cochise County was under a red flag warning due to the “extreme fire danger” from strong winds and low humidity.

The National Weather Service put the warning into effect between 11 a.m. and 8 p.m. on Thursday.

At Libby Army Airfield on Fort Huachuca, winds ranged from 18 to 24 mph between 10:55 a.m. and 5:55 p.m. Gusts during that time period ranged from 29 to 36 mph.

At the Bisbee Douglas International Airport, winds were between 16 and 24 mph between 9:56 a.m. and 5:56 p.m. Gusts during that time period ranged from 23 to 35 mph.

The red flag warning is one of several that have been issued for Cochise County in the past month.
