Cochise County Sheriff’s Deputies were called at about 6 p.m. Sunday concerning a possible accidental shooting in the 6800 block of North Brooks Road in McNeal.

When they arrived, they discovered 34-year-old Jason Elliott dead in the bedroom.

The investigation indicates that both brothers were in the residence when an argument started and at some point during the altercation Wayne Elliott shot his brother Jason Elliott one time in the chest with a shotgun.

Wayne Elliott was transported to Cochise County Jail in Bisbee where he was booked on one count of First Degree Murder and Domestic Violence and remains without bond.

The investigation is being continued by the Cochise County Sheriff’s Office.

I offer my prayers for Wayne and for the soul of Jason....may he rest in peace. No one knows what provoked this terrible tragedy...and we should not be judgemental.
