“The price of food is high and the price of gas just keeps going up almost everyday, and so people don’t have enough money to bring food to the table,” said Brenda Salazar, who is coordinating a benefit dance for the food bank.
In order to attend the benefit dance, participants must bring two cans of non-perishable food.
The canned food will go a long way in helping out the less fortunate, Salazar said.
The dance will be held on Sunday, May 18 at the Bushmaster Club at 645 from 4p.m. to 8 p.m.
The music will be provided by Rudy Bernal y Los Gemini(Hector and Luis Canez) y Arnold Arvizu.
Salazar said there will be a raffle during the dance and a liquor basket will be auctioned.
There will be a special performance by Nina Aguilera.
The Douglas Area Food Bank provides food to about 200 people a day except Thursdays and weekends.
Local stores that help the food bank are Burger King, Food City, KFC, Pizza and Safeway.
