BISBEE — Panels of the AIDS Memorial Quilt, called “the Names Project,” will be on display for the first time in Cochise County.

Usually found in larger cities with larger settings, the quilt will be displayed in eight “Old World Charm” buildings in Bisbee, creating an educational walk along with speakers from Southern Arizona AIDS Foundation, Arizona Department of Health Services/HIV Prevention, Pima County Health Department and the University of Arizona, to mention a few.

The panels will be in the city from June 8 to 22.

Funded in part by a grant from the Alliance Fund of Southern Arizona, the intent is to educate and re-educate all in Southern Arizona in a “Celebration of Life” educational walk through the streets of Bisbee. The walk is open to anyone who would like to attend.

The event includes an educational walk, a luminaria lighting remembrance and celebration of life during the Bisbee Pride Weekend, and talks to be given daily or at a scheduled time if desired.

All proceeds from donations will remain in Cochise County.

For information, call Adam Lamb at 236-3699 or 432-2216.
