A 15-year-old McNeal boy was arrested Friday with two pipe bombs in his car and with more pipe bombs and manufacturing material at his home.

When the boy was questioned by law enforcers, he told them he had obtained the material through the Internet.

The name of the boy was not released because of his age.

On Friday, May 23, a business owner in Sierra Vista saw a very suspicious object inside the suspect’s dark blue Buick, said Carol Capas, the spokeswoman for the Cochise County Sheriff’s Department.

He reported it to the sheriff’s department and they issued an “attempt to locate” notice to the surrounding law enforcement agencies, Capas said.

Law enforcers stopped the boy on Davis Road at High Lonesome Road and found two pipe bombs in his car. The detectives detonated the bomb, Capas said.

At the boy’s home in McNeal, Sheriff’s Deputies asked the boy’s parents for consent to search the property. Deputies found three more pipe bombs as well as parts and contents to make more bombs, Capas said.
