Audition now for Cochise College bi-national choir

Auditions for the Cochise College bi-national choir Musica sin Fronteras, which will perform in Douglas, Sierra Vista, and Agua Prieta, Sonora, this summer, are going on now.


Popular, folk and classical music of Mexico is the focus this season, which includes performances with the Municipal Band and the Ballet Folklórico Municipal of Agua Prieta.

Vocalists can register and earn credit for participation in the choir by enrolling through Cochise College; they also can participate in the choir as a non-credit workshop by registering through the Cochise College Center for Lifelong Learning.

The choir welcomes singers from all parts of Cochise County and Sonora, Mexico.

Concerts are planned for June 20 or 21, Plaza Azueta, Agua Prieta; Thursday, July 10, 7 p.m., 8th Street Park, Douglas; and Friday, July 11, 7 p.m., Kino Hall, 800 Taylor St., Sierra Vista; and Sunday, July 13, 5 p.m., Plaza Azueta, Agua Prieta.

Participants can select from several rehearsal venues, including Mondays June 2 to June 30, 5:30 – 8 p.m., Valley View Elementary School in Hereford; Tuesdays May 27 to July 1, 5:30 – 7:30 p.m., St. Stephen’s Church, 11th Street and D Avenue, Douglas; and Saturdays May 31 – June 28, CONALEP school, Agua Prieta.

All participants will rehearse together the afternoons of Saturday, June 14 in Agua Prieta and Saturday, July 5 in Sierra Vista.
