DOUGLAS — Organizers of an upcoming Mexican film festival in Bisbee have changed the event’s schedule to accommodate a request from the public.

The festival will feature four films: “Al Norte,” which means “To the North;” “Al Otro Lado,” which means “On the Other Side;” “El Jardin del Eden,” which means “The Garden of Eden;” and “De Ida y Vuelta,” which means “Back and Forth.”

Each film was supposed to be shown one time from June 26 to 29. But, due to popular demand, “To the North” will be shown twice, according to officials at the Mexican Consulate in Douglas. The showing of this film will be a premiere in the U.S.

Also, consulate officials announced that an introduction to “To the North” written by director Stephanie Rauer will be read to the audience prior to the showings.

And, a videotaped interview with “The Garden of Eden” director Maria Novaro will be played prior to the showing of that film.

The film festival will be held at Central School Project located at 43 Howell Ave. in Bisbee.

“To the North” will be shown June 26 at 7 p.m. and June 29 at 4:30 p.m. “On the Other Side,” directed by Gustavo Loza, will be played June 27 at 7 p.m. “The Garden of Eden” will be shown June 28 at 4 p.m. “Back and Forth,” directed by Salvador Aguirre, will be played June 29 at 2 p.m.

" Why wasn't Douglas chosen? We're the actual gateway for the illegals, as well as drug runners. What better city to represent this film, than Douglas itself? "
