Hundreds of people get deported each day at the Douglas/Agua Prieta port of entry.
Many of of the illegal immigrants don’t have adequate clothing, food, water or money, and they don’t know where they are or how to get information.
The Coalition Without Borders, made up of groups from both sides of the border, provides these people resources including blankets, water, coffee, food packets, abuse documentation, referrals to services and maps.
“The celebration will be a time of thanking and recognizing those who have made this possible,” she said. “There will be cultural dances, some songs by a couple different groups and a short play put on by volunteers at the center.”
Reynolds said about 25,000 people have been served at the center since it opened. Volunteers staff the center seven days a week, from 8 a.m. to midnight. The event will be open to the public. For information, call 364-9257.
