Double Adobe resident Dorothy Fairchild published her first book recently,  Irish Rose.

Originally written in 2003 as part of a magazine serial that was unpublished, the story follows the travails of an Irish immigrant who eventually ends up in Tombstone and witnesses firsthand the fight at the OK Corral.

The book became a reality when Fairchild came across the Amazon Breakthrough Novel Award contest. There were over 5,000 entrants, and she made the cut down to the final 150, and recently got the book published online by Amazon.

“The process took several months. I submitted ‘Irish Rose’ in October but was were not notified until June of the publishing.”

Fairchild, 31,  has been writing since when was four years old.

I have been interested in history of all kinds,” She said. “I have many historical interests, including the Titanic.

Fairchild was born in Douglas, and attended school at Paul Huber Middle School before completing high school privately. She is the daughter of George and Dorothy Ann Fairchild and they have always lived in the area.

The book can be purchased for $6.50 plus shipping and handling by going to  www.amazon.com/Irish-Rose-Dorothy-Fairchild/dp/1438238614/ or at  www.createspace.com/3344967.
