Area volunteers are presently gearing up for the 2008 American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life of Douglas. This year’s theme is “Douglas Rocks for a Cure!” The Relay for Life Kick-Off and Training will be held on Saturday, July 19, 2008, at St. Luke’s Church Hall, 1211 15th Street, from 10:00 A.M. to 1:00 P.M. The entire community is invited and welcome to attend to hear about the new ideas and innovations planned for this year.

Refreshments and prizes will also be offered to give the Kick-Off a festive atmosphere.
This annual event traditionally draws hundreds of participants who form dozens of teams to walk the track all night, to raise awareness, to celebrate victories over cancer, and to raise money for the American Cancer Society.
Money received allows the American Cancer Society to continue funding cancer research, its state and national legislative advocacy, and the ACS’s many educational and community service programs.
