Illegal pleads guilty in home invasion

BISBEE - An illegal immigrant who broke into a home in Willcox on Dec. 5 pleaded guilty in a plea agreement June 30 in Cochise County Superior Court.


Alberto Jimenez-Garcia was charged with one count of burglary, three counts of theft and one count of criminal damage.

He pleaded guilty in a plea agreement to the burglary charge. According to the agreement, the three counts of theft and one count of criminal damage will be dismissed.

Judge Stephen Desens scheduled a sentencing hearing for July 28. He could be sentenced to between two years and 8.75 years in prison. There is a presumptive term of 3.5 years. Probation is not available as a sentencing option.

Garcia is one of four men charged in connection with the incident in Willcox. Alejandrino Lara-Silva, Natalio Valenzuela-Valdez and Yerco Vedobch-Arrvayo are also charged in connection with incidents in Pearce and Elfrida on Dec. 5 and 6.

Silva, Valdez and Arrvayo are each charged with three counts of burglary, four counts of theft, one count of criminal damage, one count of kidnapping and one count of armed robbery.

Silva is charged with aggravated robbery and aggravated assault. Valdez and Arrvayo are each charged with two counts of aggravated robbery. Silva is scheduled for a review hearing on July 7. Arrvayo is scheduled for a settlement conference on July 21. Valdez is scheduled for a settlement conference on July 7, but prosecutors want to move that date to July 21.
