City continues with waste water improvements

Waste water improvements continue on 4th and 5th Street on Dolores Avenue. Earth moving equipment is in the area digging trenching between the 8th Street Park and Calvary Cemetery. Construction will continue through November 14, 2008


City crew continue with the improvements for waste water systems.

The City of Douglas has contracted Sunwestern Contractors Inc. for the Water & Wastewater System Improvements Phase II Project.  Water main installation has begun at the intersection of Florida Avenue and 15th Street to Louis Avenue;  Cochise Drive and  Louis Avenue and 15th Street to San Antonio Avenue.  

These streets will be closed to through traffic during working hours.  

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers in support of the U.S. Border Patrol continues to regrade and re-line the channel bottom and slopes with concrete as well as doing service road improvements.  

This work is taking place on International Avenue between J Avenue to A Avenue and continues through August 2008.  Please continue to be alert to area detours and barriers.

Monday, July 21 through Friday, July 25,  curbing work continues Florida Avenue between 8th street and 6th Street.  Striping and power-washing also continues in the downtown area.  Earthwork and drainage realignment work is still in process on Chino Road.  Please be alert of detours in these areas.  Please be alert of detours in these areas.  Fire Hydrant maintenance and water system maintenance continues throughout the city.  Caution should be taken when driving or walking near or around an area where city personnel are flushing & testing fire hydrants.

There will also be other miscellaneous concrete repairs, pothole patching, and graffiti cleanup throughout the city.  

If you should have any problems with water and/or sewer services on the weekend or a holiday, please contact the Douglas Police Department at 364-8422 and staff on call will be dispatched to your residence.  

The City of Douglas asks that you please use caution while driving or walking through these construction zones.  Please help keep everyone safe.
