District continues to hire new teachers

The Douglas Unified School District continued to fill out its teaching staff during a special meeting on Friday, July 25, at noon.


Th abbreviated meeting approved the hiring of several teachers, substitutes and accepted staff resignations.

During the meeting, the board:

• Approved the hiring of Ray Borne Middle School science teacher, Lee Hayes, at a rate of $40, 290; Faras third grade teacher, Sydney Fimbres, $32,990; Clawson fourth grade teacher, Georgina Macafee, $33,387; Clawson third grade instructor, Ashley Eisenbrei, $32,990; Emergency certified English teacher at Douglas High School, Burke Richardson, $32,990; DHS math teacher, Ana Enriquez, $37,690; DHS math teacher Patricia Alatorre, $32,990; and DHS Emergency certified chemistry teacher, Melissa Nanez, $32,990.

• Approved the hiring of certified substitutes Richard Harmon and Damian Molina at $70 a day; and emergency substitutes Valeria Gonzales, Mary Vigil, David Saspe and Natashya Horst at $50 daily.

Approved the hiring of Clawson Instructional Aide Paula Terrell at a rate of $8.95 per hour.

Accepted the resignations of Leticia Olivas, DHS Instructional Aide; Luis Alvarez and Myra Duarte, Clawson Instructional Aide; and Jorge Del Castillo, DHS custodian.

• Approved the adoption of textbooks and materials for use in high school biology and AP physics classes.
