Rodeo County Quilters is open and ready to serve quilters from around the Southwest.

The store is located at the corner of Portal Road and Route 80 in Rodeo, New Mexico. Shop owner Sharon Smith has been a quilter for more than 45 years.

“My dream of owning a comfortable, inviting friendly space in a quilt shop finally happened in June,” she said.

“Our first objective is to meet and serve quilters in a pleasant way. Yes, it is also a business, with the best possible ed selection of quality fabrics and supplies. As we are new, if we don’t have it, we will get it for you.”

She said the shop is also intended to teach  all aspects of quilting, from the beginner to the most skilled. “After all, we are all quilters for the pleasure we get from the completed project.”

Classes will be made available, and if there is someone with a special talent or class to teach, they can share that talent.

Rodeo Country Quilters also has finished pieces and other quilt items for those that don’t have the time to make that special gift.

“We travel to Douglas and beyond for many reasons, but would like to share our quilt shop and other local shops and sights with you. We have several ladies from Rodeo that go to Douglas for sewing groups.

“So gather a group of friends and come see us. I am sure you will enjoy us and our shop as much as we enjoy travelling to Douglas..

“There are many threads that bind friends together, and maybe we can share that thread,” Smith said.

The shop is open Monday through Wednesday, Friday nd Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and on Sunday by appointment. The shop is closed on Thursdays.
