“We encourage firms from Cochise County to submit bids for these projects, which will impact local students and the community well into the future,” said Dr. Karen Nicodemus, president of Cochise College. “This is an opportunity to become more engaged in the life of our institution.”
Drawings can be accessed through the Southeastern Arizona Contractors Association and online at www.fwdodge.com and at www.thebluebook.com. Bids will be accepted until the close of business on Aug. 21. For more information, contact Lloyd Construction at (520) 884-9821 or rob@lloydconstruction.com.
Meanwhile, three areas of the campus are now fenced.
• A sizable area on the northwest corner of campus that is roughly bounded by the 1000 Building on the south; the middle of the campus green/mall on the east; aviation on the north; and Chiricahua Hall on the west. This fenced area is the future home of the new Residence Halls and Housing & Student Life Building. The loop road will be closed between the southernmost Chiricahua Hall parking lot (to remain open) and the southwest corner of the aviation parking lot.
• The area directly south of the 1900/Art/Ag Building, which is the future home of the new Career Technology Building. Surrounding roads and parking areas are not expected to be impacted.
• An area just northeast of the existing 1100/Science Building, in preparation for construction of a new Science Building. Surrounding roads and parking areas are not expected to be impacted, but identified pedestrian walkways will be in place to ensure the safety of visitors to the classrooms on the northeast side of the facility.
The northwest section of the loop road will be closed, and drivers and pedestrians will still have access to all buildings and offices. Please observe construction crews and equipment and use caution when visiting campus. Regular updates and campus maps will be available soon on the Cochise College website – www.cochise.edu. The fall semester begins Monday, Aug. 18.
