Elfrida––Although the bell has rung and school has started at Valley Union High School, they have no counselor’s or superintendent’s office or even a principal’s office, for that matter.

Corona also vandalized the science building, which amounts to another $30,000 in damage.
“But we’ve adapted. We’ve restructured and reorganized,” said Ron Aguallo, the superintendent for both the high school and elementary school there.
Rooms that were set aside for classroom space are now being used by the administrative staff.
The vandalized science room has now forced students to find a science room wherever they can.
The financial set back has also become obvious.
“Money that would have benefited the students now has to go to replace items lost in the fire,” Aguallo said.
Desk, computers, phones––all gone.
But the students have adapted, despite the inconveniences, he said.
The fire was set shortly before the students and staff was getting ready for registration.
Aguallo said the fire set the school back about a year because it will take about that long to replace the administration room.
“But you know, we will survive this, and we’ll just move forward,” he said.

Schools already have faced many budget cuts and this is just another forced budget cut. The students now have less because of all this money. Perhaps the boy's family should pay. "
