Now, the Douglas Masonic lodge and the Shiners are stepping up to the plate in protecting our youth even further. The Douglas Masonic Lodge is bringing CHIP into Douglas; CHIP is our CHIld Identification Program, geared to help law enforcement in the event a child is abducted. I believe in keeping our youth safe, CHIP can help us achieve this.
CHIP allows the Masonic Lodge to record pertinent information such as finger prints, still photo, video, and a DNA month swab, along with height and weight of each child.
This information is loaded onto a CD containing this information for the parents to have at no cost to them, the Masonic lodge retains no record of the child. Should something happen to that child, the information collected has the capability to load into the Amber Alert system, allowing all Law Enforcement to respond quicker
The Douglas Masonic Lodge needs your help; in order to get this program off the ground we need funding. On August 11, 2008 members of the Masonic lodge met with Howard Henderson (KDAP-96.5) on the “Talk of the town.”
They talked about our program and what it does for the parents and how it has worked, and how it could quite possible save a child’s life.
Chief of Police Alberto Melis has embraced the program and understands the need for this in Douglas. On August 16, at 1100 am, the Freemasons of Arizona will unveil CHIP for Douglas to see, and for law enforcement agencies to review. This will take place at our lodge located at 931 G-Ave.
