A walk is scheduled for August 13 and departs from the San Pedro House, 9800 E. Hwy. 90, Sierra Vista at 7:00 am. There is no charge for the walks, however, donations are accepted to support docent programs. For more information call 459-2555.
Hike to Millville
Join Friends of the San Pedro River on a hike to the ghost town of Millville and explore the ruins of the Gird Mill and home described as “the finest building…in southern Arizona.” Then, it’s on to view ancient Hohokam rock art sites.
The 5 mile hike is rated easy and departs from the Millville parking area at 7am on August 16. To get to the the parking lot, take State Route 90 to Charleston Rd. Drive east to the parking lot which is _ mile east of the River. Bring drinking water, sun protection and snacks.
The fee is $5 per person and all proceeds support educational programs of the Friends of the San Pedro River. For directions and more information call 459.2555.
San Pedro River Walks
Join docents from the Friends of the San Pedro River on interpretive walks along the river August 16 and 23, 2008. The walks depart from the San Pedro House near Sierra Vista at 8:00am.
The San Pedro River features some of the richest wildlife habitat in the United States.
Here you'll find 82 species of mammals, dozens of reptiles and amphibians and nearly 350 species of birds.
It is the last free flowing river in the Southwest and has been designated one of the Last Great Places by the Nature Conservancy.
There is no charge for the walks, however donations are accepted to support the docent programs.
Dress appropriately for the weather, bring drinking water and use sun protection.
