The Canadian Forces Snowbirds have earmarked their calendar to appear in Douglas for a 45-minute airshow.

On Oct. 1 the Snowbirds will present one of the most amazing shows over the skies of Douglas. Using their own jets, they will perform a series of aerobatics stunts that resemble nothing short of white fireworks.

In some instances only eight feet separate the jets wing to wing as they perform, said Robin Brekhus, who is hosting a fundraiser for the show.

The fundraiser will be on Aug. 23 at the Gadsden Hotel. Several Sysco Gourmet Chefs from Phoenix will be cooking dinner. The menu will include steak, lobster and jumbo prawns, Brekhus said.

The money raised at the event will help buy fuel, smoke oil, oxygen, tow vehicles, hangar space and food and lodging for the 24 pilots and support crew, she said. About $25,000 is needed to support the show.

Tickets will be $50 per person. Kevin Alvarado and Hannah Hurtado will provide the music.

Wine and cheese will begin at 6p.m.; dinner from 7p.m. to 8p.m.; music from 8p.m. to 10p.m.

The Canadian Forces Snowbirds will fly to Douglas and keep their jets at the Douglas Municipal Airport, she said.

" its wonderful to have an event in town but this time Robin should make sure all venders are invited to sell at this event not just her chosen ones look at yogis at the last event he had the biggest line there and he wasnt even at the park because she had picked her venders not fair if this is a city affair also let others make some cash that live here in douglas so the money can stay in our economy thats what helps keep it here not to outsiders we have lots of good venders here . " I THINK WHAT ROBIN IS DOING IS A GOOD THING FOR THE CITY. EVERYBODY ALWAYS COMPLAINS THAT THERE IS NOTHING TO DO IN DOUGLAS BUT WHEN SOMEONE PLANS AN EVENT LIKE THIS THEY ALL START COMPLAINING THAT WHY DO THEY DO IT. PEOPLE ARE JUST BEING STUPID AND IF THEY HAVE A PROBLEM WITH THE EVENT OR ANY THING ROBIN IS DOING THEN THEY SHOULD DO SOMETHING TO HELP PLAN IT INSTEAD OF JUST COMPLAINING ABOUT IT! "

" This is great for Douglas. It can only bring positive things to the whole town. Then you can support other things. "

    " Why October 1st? Thats a Wednesday.

As far as I'm concerened Robyn can do whatever she wants with HER Time and efforts. Why is she the only one doing public events in this town?

Who else puts on events in this town? "

" Well for one thing Robin Brekhus is the only one in the community that provides entertainment for US ungrateful citizens and she works hard at what she does specially with getting help from the city of douglas or anybody else there to busy working on call centers and Dinosaurs in castro Park or looking like fools in council meetings "

" Maybe the Gasden does bennift from these airshows, but at least Robin is doing something for this community. It's not limited to any certain group. Everyone can enjoy this event. Keep up the good work Robin, and thank you. "

" Why do we need another Airshow in Douglas, Why not support more important things, Such as Relay for Life, City of Douglas Schools and City of Douglas Public Safety, Police and Fire. Douglas Needs to Support the community, not just one business, the Gadsden!! Just my opinion. "
