A Pirtleville man led Douglas police and sheriff’s deputies on a 30-minute high speed chase through Douglas, Pirtleville and Highway 80.

Lopez

Enrique Lopez, 25, was subdued with a Taser X-26 by Cochise County Sheriff’s deputies. He was booked at the Cochise County jail and is being held on a $36,000 bond, said Marcus Gonzalez, the spokesman for the Douglas Police Department.

At about 10:34 p.m. Wednesday police responded to 1420 20th Street, where Lopez was breaking windows at a residence, Gonzalez said.

When police arrived at the scene, police saw Lopez jump into a gray Chevrolet pick-up truck and drive away, even after police ordered him to stop.

Police activated their emergency lights and sirens, but Lopez refused to stop. He fled from the police at a high rate of speed, Gonzalez said.

They chased Lopez through Douglas, Pirtleville, and Highway 80 for about 30 minutes. The police also deployed spikes on the road, but Lopez avoided them.

Lopez stopped at the 2000 block of C Avenue, where he was taken into custody following a brief struggle. There, he was subdued with a taser gun.

Because Lopez was under the influence of alcohol, he was taken to Southeast Arizona Medical Center. He was then taken to the county jail.

Lopez was charged with unlawful flight from pursuing law enforcement, endangerment, aggravated DUI, possession of marijuana, criminal damage and disorderly conduct.

" Mary, come on; please don’t lower your standards like this. If breaking windows, running from the police, and fighting with the police while highly intoxicated are your kind of "nice guys", then you have serious issues. Do not fall in love with the criminal, as he could have easily killed you, your family, or any other innocent person innocently driving on the road that night. I usually like to get to know someone before I judge them, but by reading this book, I can definitely say that the cover says "SCUM BAG"!!! "

EVERYBODY HAS THERE UP AND DOWNS. YEAH THE COP WERE DOING THERE JOB. THATS GREAT BUT REMEMBER THAT WE ARE NOT GOD TO PASS JUDGEMENT ON HIM. "

I DON'T AGREE WITH PEOPLE WISHING HIM TO DO TIME HE IS NOT THE FIRST OR LAST PERSON TO MAKE MISTAKES. CALL HIM A THUG CALL HIM WHAT YOU WANT BUT HE IS HUMAN LIKE THE REST OF US. THERES PEOPLE THAT DO ALOT WORSE AND GET AWAY WITH IT. YEAH HE OUT PEOPLES LIFES IN DANGER BUT THANK GOD THAT NOTHING HAPPENED. WHAT ABT HIS LIFE. "

    " Hey Mary
Maybe you should be locked up with him if you think he's a good person.
Way to go to ALL law enforcement that were involved! Once less crazy on the streets. "

" One good way to get to know someone is from their actions, and judging from Enrique's actions, I don't think many sane people care to get to know this thug! I'm sure he looks better behind bars, though. "

" It is apparent that you do not live at the residence where this fine fellow busted out the windows at, nor do you care that he was drunk, racing thru our streets putting you or your loved ones in danger. It truly scares me that someone would come out and defend a mindless criminal like this one. "

" Maybe you think he's a nice guy, but he's an idiot! He could've killed someone and that should not go unpunished. He does need to be in jail and he needs to take the time to think about his actions and thank God that he didn't kill anyone!!! Only an idiot couldn't see that! "

" Just because someone has a nice personality doesn't mean they shouldn't be sent to jail. His nice personality didn't help him see what he was doing was not only stupid but very dangerous. Mary that was such an ignorant comment. "

" In response to "Mary". Get real. This person endangered the lives of the law enforcement agencies and the general public. I'm sure if he was breaking the windows of your house you wouldn't think he was such a nice guy. He deserves to sit in jail for a while. I hope the felony DUI charges stick, that's the only way he will go to prison. "

" ITS FUNNY HOW PEOPLE JUST JUDGE A PERSON WITHOUT EVEN KNOWING THEM. HE IS A VERY NICE GUY> PLEASE GET TO KNOW HIM FIRST BEFORE U JUDGE HIM!! SO (T) DON'T JUDGE A BOOK BY ITS COVER!! HE HAS A RECORD BUT A VERY NICE PERSONALITY DOESN'T DESERVE TO BE IN JAIL "

Kudos to all law enforcement that helped catch the thug and I too hope that he will be put away for a good while. "

" He looks to be a person who is continually in trouble with the law. Hopefully the judges will see he is a threat to the safety of our community and lock him up for a while with these charges. "
