Permanent Call Center to open by mid December

By mid December the call center on 10th Street is anticipated to be in full production, with about 300 employees processing calls from around the country.

Polling places in Cochise County

BISBEE — With the passage of an agreement between Cochise County and U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, the county Board of Supervisors may have a say in the re-introduction of the Mexican wolf that could occur in the Chiricahua Mountains. The memorandum of understanding allows the county to have a seat at the table in regards to determining the expansion of the current management area of the wolves.

Cloud files complaints against Dever
Just a week before the upcoming Republican primary, Cochise County Sheriff candidate Bill Cloud filed five election complaints with County officials, calling for an investigation of “ctions by or on behalf of the Larry Dever for Sheriff of Cochise County campaign.”

Arizona home values keep falling at increasing pace
PHOENIX — Home values in Arizona continue to plummet at faster and faster rates.

Gas prices dropping countywide
According to the Cochise College Center for Economic Research’s latest biweekly survey of gas prices, conducted during the week of August 25, the average price of a gallon of regular unleaded gasoline in Cochise County dropped from $3.79 to $3.67 over the two-week period. According to AAA Arizona, the statewide price decreased from $3.77 to $3.63 per gallon. Nationally, according to the Energy Information Administration, gas prices decreased from $3.81 to $3.69 during the two-week period.

July tax collections down from last year
PHOENIX — State tax collections continue to shrink even as more people continue to move here.

American Community Survey looks at Cochise County
The U.S. Census Bureau recently released results from its 2006 American Community Survey. This was the second year Cochise County was included in the survey, which provides annual updates to the census data collected every 10 years. Prior to 2005, only communities with a population of 250,000 or more were included. In 2005, this was changed to include populations of 65,000 or more.
