She was blindfolded, yelled at, pushed and shoved. In the end, Robin Brekhus was initiated into the ranks of the SEABEES, a military branch of the Navy.

“She went above and beyond the call of duty,” said Joseph Bucholz, the chief-select for the SEABEES, who have been working on upgrading the International ditch at the border in Douglas.
The soldiers, who have been staying at the Avenue Hotel on G Avenue, had nothing but high praise for Brekhus, who has helped the men settle in as they were deployed to Douglas.
“She has been of great help to us and this is our way of showing her our appreciation,” Bucholz said with a big grin.
Brekhus was blindfolded, made to pull a sled, ran a gauntlet of scream men and, finally, baptized in cold water.
That’s what it takes to be one of the SEABEES.
