Alvarez, English move on

Manny Alvarez and Ann English took the majority of the votes for State Senate District 25 and Board of Supervisors District 2 respectively Tuesday, making them the frontrunners for November’s general elections. Both Alvarez and English are Democrats.


English, who ran against Charles Flanagan, received 55.31 percent of the vote in Cochise County, cited an unofficial report from the Cochise County Primary Elections website. That percentage reflects 1,146 votes in the county for English.

Flanagan received 34.45 percent of the vote. He took 882 votes; Joe Green received 9.61 percent of the vote. Green took 246 votes.

Alvarez received 98.7 percent of the vote in Cochise County, reflecting 4,036 votes in his favor. Alvarez represents all of Cochise County except Sierra Vista; he also represents parts of Pima County. In Pima County Alvarez received about 4,000 votes.

In the general elections in November, he will go up against Republican Mary Ann Black for state senate.

Patricia “Pat” Fleming took 55.70 percent of the vote, with 3,643 votes cast in her favor. Richard “Ric” Boyer, who ran against Fleming, took 2,876 votes, reflecting 43.98 percent of the vote.

Norm Bradley, who will run against incumbent Larry Dever for Cochise County Sheriff, took 95.89 percent of the vote or 4,437 votes. Bradley is a Democrat.
