The Douglas Little League has officially its new board of directors for the upcoming 2009 season.

Bruce Whetten returns as league president beginning his second term in the last three years. Mona Burns and Ernesto Lopez are Whetten’s co-vice presidents. Christina Gomez returns as secretary. Patty Lopez and Grace Corella will be the treasurers.

At large board members are Eliseo Daniel, Ken Nelson, Carlos Lamadrid, Gabriel Ortega, Efrain Elias, Humberto Parra, David Campas and Eric Mapp is the fundraising coordinator.

The board plans on meeting twice a month in September, October and November and just once in December.

The first meeting is for the board members only; the second meeting is open to the public at which time the board will sit down and inform them what action it has taken so far and answer any questions they may have.

The next public meeting is set for Sept. 23 at 6 p.m. at Backdrop Photo.

Whetten has announced several fundraising efforts are already in the works as the league attempts to recover from a financial debt it inherited when it took over.

Anyone with questions, comments or suggestions is more than welcome to contact any one of the board members or show up to the public meetings.
