The City of Douglas continues work on various projects. This work is being completed by the Department of Public Works and is part of the Mayor and Council’s ongoing infrastructure improvement program.

1) Water – Continued construction on the east side of Leslie Canyon Road, on the north side of Highway 80. Boring will take place underneath Highway 80 and paving continues on 15th Street from Washington Avenue to Rogers Avenue. Water line repair will also take place on 5th Street and G Avenue.
2) Sewer – Continued paving on 8th Street from Los Angeles Avenue to Washington Avenue and from 8th Street to 6th Street on Washington Avenue. Paving also continues on Washington Avenue from 6th Street to 1st Street. Construction will continue through November 14, 2008. These streets may be closed to through traffic during working hours. Please be alert to more detailed information regarding street closures and the construction detours. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers in support of the U.S. Border Patrol continues re-grading and lining the channel bottom and slopes with concrete as well as doing service road improvements. This work is taking place on International Avenue between J Avenue to A Avenue and continues through August 2009. Please be alert to area detours and barriers.
Fire Hydrant maintenance and water system maintenance continues throughout the city.
Caution should be taken when driving or walking near or around an area where city personnel are flushing & testing fire hydrants. Milling and paving continues on Washington Avenue between 15th Street and 19th Street. Please be alert of detours in these areas.
There will also be miscellaneous concrete repairs, pothole patching, and graffiti cleanup throughout the city. Should problems arise with water and/or sewer services on the weekend or a holiday, please contact the Douglas Police Department at 364-8422 and staff on call will be dispatched to your residence. The City asks that you please obey all construction detours and use caution while driving or walking through these construction zones. Please help keep everyone safe.
