Grand Marshal: Sgt Ramon (Mono) Rabago, Jr.

Grand Marshal Sgt. Ramon Rabago, Jr. e served in the U.S. Army from November 16. 1944 and honorably discharged on August 22. 1946. He was assigned with the 100th and 3~ Infantry Division in Europe where he served as motor pool sergeant with the 3~ BN Hg and 7th Infantry Regiment. Each assignment led to increased responsibility in the training and leadership of various soldiers. He received the following awards: European-African-Middle Eastern (ETO) Campaign medal, Army of Occupation medal, Victory medal, and Good Conduct medal. He also received 2 Overseas Service Bars.


Born in Douglas. AZ August 27, 1926, he graduated from Douglas High School in May 1944. He married the former Amelia Estrada on November 8, 1947. They have six children:

√ Alvina Pawlik: Alvina is a principal at San Bernadino schools

√ Diana Payne: Diana works in the insurance industry in Phoenix, AZ,

√ Anthony Ray Rabago: Anthony is a finance controller for the Catholic Church in Phoenix. AZ.

√ Ernesto V Rabago: Ernesto is a purchasing manager for Crescent Crown Distributing Company in Phoenix.

√ Robert F. Rabago: Robert works in sales division of Royal Molding Co in Marion, VA. He also served as a sergeant in the air force for six years including service during the Lebanon and Greneda crisis.

√ Vincent L. Rabago: Vincent has served six years an assistant-attorney general for the Arizona attorney generals office. He is chairman of the Pima county democratic party in Tucson.

The Rabago’s have 13 grandchildren and ten great grandchildren.

Rabago served as VFW Post 426 in various capacities including Post Commander, Service officer. National Aide-de-Camp, and chairman of the Voice of Democracy. He has received various awards and certificates as a member of the VFW. He is a Bushmaster Club Trustee. He has been a member of the Governor’s Advisory Council on Civil Defense.

He worked with the Douglas Fire Department from May 1952 and retired in August 1986 reaching the rank of Assistant Fire Chief During his tenure, he was assigned to the Arizona Chapter of the International Association of Arson Investigators and commissioned as Assistant Deputy Fire Marshal by the Arizona State Fire Marshal’s Office.
