No surprises in the Cochise County elections

Incumbents and favorites took the seats in Cochise County during the November 4 election.


The most contentious of the races, that for Cochise County Sheriff, ended with incumbent Larry Dever taking nearly 60 percent of the votes, easily defeating Democrat Norm Bradley.

Douglas and the surrounding area have a new representative on the Cochise County Board of Supervisors. Ann English took 53 percent of the vote, easily defeating Republican Harvey Allen and non-partisan Matt Cook.

Incumbent Marsha Bonham beat Republican Regina Pace 56 to 44 percent for Treasurer, and incumbent School Superintendent Trudy Berry easily defeated Raul Torrez. Berry received nearly 60 percent of the vote.

Other countywide positions were uncontested

On the state level, Democrat Pat Fleming and Republican David Stevens have slight leads over Richard Boyer and Timathy Davies for the District 25 house seats, and Democrat Manny Alvarez is holding onto a slim 4 percent lead against Mary Ann Black in the District 25 Senate race.

In the U.S. House race, incumbent Gabrielle Giffords has been proclaimed the winner over Tim Bee. Giffords finished with 55 percent of the vote.
