Honored Guest Speaker: Petty Officer Richard Keith

Petty Officer Richard Keith enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1967. attended basic training in San Diego, CA followed by Naval Corpsman School at Naval Hospital, San Diego. CA. He then attended Field Medical School at Marine Corps base, Camp Pendleton, CA. lie was assigned to the Naval Training Center and Marine Corps Recruit Depot in San Diego. He was then attached to the 2’~’ Battalion 1st Marine Regiment 1st Marine Division in the Republic of Vietnam. He is authorized eight individual awards and ribbons including unit citations. During his tour in Vietnam, he was cited by the Commanding Officer. Company G, 2’~ Platoon for his professional skill. confidence, and courage while treating injured marines in combat situations. He was honorably discharged in 1971.


He was born and raised in Douglas. His father, C.E. Keith was a WWII veteran and his mother is Ruth Natalie Keith of Silver City, NM. He graduated from Douglas High School in 1967.

Keith e attended Arizona State University from 1971 to 1975 and graduated with a major in history and a minor in science. He completed his Masters program at Northern Arizona University. He has taught at the former 12th Street Junior High, Huber Junior High. and is now employed with Educational Service Incorporated and continues to teach the youth of Douglas. He realized his dream of coaching of Douglas High School football from 1987 to 1990.
