“This is a great accomplishment which could not have been achieved without the hard work of the procurement staff at Cochise County,” explained Mr. David Seward, Procurement Director”.
In 1995, the National Purchasing Institute established the Achievement of Excellence program, designed to recognize organizational excellence in public procurement. The criteria are designed to measure innovation, professionalism, productivity, e-procurement, and leadership attributes of the procurement organization. The award was presented to county Procurement Director, Dave Seward, recently while attending the National Institute for Government Purchasing (NIGP) conference in Charlotte, North Carolina. NIGP is a co-sponsor of the AEP program.
Mr. Seward is keeping with his commitment, voiced as the department was recognized in 2007, to receive this prominent award every year that he works for Cochise County. Dave had won the award five years in a row for his previous employer, Placer County.
The AEP is co-sponsored by several other National and State purchasing associations, including the Institute for Supply Management, California Association of Public Purchasing Officers, Florida Association of Public Purchasing Officers, Texas Association of Public Purchasing Officers, National Association of State Procurement Officials, and the National Association of Educational Buyers.
