Arevalo dies in two vehicle accident

On November 3 at about 12:25 pm DPS Officers responded to a two vehicle injury collision east bound on State Route 80 in the area Chino Road.


Petra A. Arevalo, 84, of Douglas was driving a red 1998 Chevy and was attempting to turn onto the highway from Chino Road.  As he entered the highway he pulled into the path of an oncoming vehicle and was struck on the driver’s side.

Petra was flown to a local hospital where he later died. The passenger in Petra’s vehicle, was treated for non-life threatening injuries.  The driver of the other vehicle, was wearing her seat belt and was not reported to be injured. It is not known if restraints were used by Petra or passenger.

No citations have been issued.

    " The driver of the Chevy was Petra A Arevalo. A woman, an amazing woman at that, who was very loved by everyone she knew. It peeves me to see that you address her as a "HE" and not a she in your report, it shows a lack of respect and bad reporting on your part. "
