St. Andrew the Apostle Catholic church presents a dedication organ recital for the newly-installed Moller Pipe Organ on Nov. 29 at 7 p.m. featuring Lars Andersen. Andersen is the principal organist at Dove of Peace Lutheran Church in Tucson.

Admission is free. A freewill offering will be taken to benefit the organ fund.

Lars Andersen began his musical career in California at the age of 6, first on the piano in private study with Mrs. Craig Rees, and with Charles Shaffer on organ, and in college with Dr. Justin Colyar, for a cumulative total of 14 continuous years of keyboard studies.

Having secured his first church position at the age of 12, he has been a church organist now for more than 48 continuous years, primarily in the Lutheran church, and has held the post of organist at Dove of Peace Lutheran for nearly 21 cumulative years since 1982. From 1989 to 1992, he was Sr. organist at St. Thomas the Apostle Parish, Tucson; in 1992, during a European tour with that church’s choir, he was principal organist for the Pentecost Mass at St. Peter’s Basilica (The Vatican) in Rome, and in Salzburg, Austria, he was the solo organist for Trinity Sunday Mass at the famed Dom Cathedral.

Andersen also is a member of the American Guild of Organists.
