Early Learning Center News Briefs

If your child is between the ages of 3 years to kindergarten age and you have concerns regarding their development or performance in one or more of the following areas: vision and hearing, motor control/coordination, behavior/social skills, speech/language skills or thinking/performing tasks, please contact the Early Learning Center Office @ 364-2447 ex 5000 or 364-8473 to schedule an appointment for a Child Find Screening. Screenings are conducted on a monthly or bi-monthly basis depending on need; and are held here at the Early Learning Center.  Our next Child Find Screening will be Friday, Novermber 21st.

For children kindergarten age through 21 years, please contact your local school and ask to speak with your child’s teacher and/or the special education teacher regarding your concerns. 

Ms. M Hernandez and Ms. Alma – 4 years old

We have been working on the Brown Bear Project this week. We learned to recognize the different types of colors, we listen to the brown bear song to learn the sequence of the story.  We are working on motor skills by coloring the pictures, and we are learning book handling skills.  Ms. Jody came to our classroom to talk about high hat. With high hat we are learning the sounds of the letters.

Ms. Minerva & Mr. Jesus – 4 year old

Monday- We read the book “Brown Bear Brown Bear What Do You See”, students drew a picture of their favorite character from the story. Tuesday- Students created a necklace with cut outs of all the characters from the story “Brown Bear, Brown Bear What Do You See” Wednesday- Students created their favorite character from the brown bear story out of paper plates. They painted them and decorated them. Example for the red bird they painted the plate red and glued on red feathers and eyes and beak. Thursday- Students continued to work on their paper plate character projects.

Ms. Diana & Ms. Elena – 4 year old

This week we are learning about the human body and parts. Children will learn about the different parts like bones, muscles, veins, organs, etc. that form the human body.

Monday children will make gingerbread people Tuesday They will make a good luck hand “kamsa” which means five in Arabic Wednesday children will make a “pasta skeleton” using different kinds of pasta Thursday we will go to computers and work on the year book page for November.
