NOGALES - The Douglas Bulldogs lost to the Nogales Apaches 65-35 Friday falling to 0-2 on the young season.

Much like the season opener with Cienega the Bulldogs fell behind early and never could catch up.

Nogales led 17-6 at the end of the first quarter; 37-13 at the half and 55-27 heading into the final period.

No other details were available at presstime.

The Bulldogs, 0-2, head to Tucson Tuesday for another non-conference showdown with the Pueblo Warriors who beat the Apaches in overtime Thursday.

Junior varsity

The Douglas JV’s suffered their second straight loss Friday night falling to the Nogales junior varsity 100-60.

Dorian Loreto led Douglas in scoring with 14 points. Andres Romero followed with 10 and Esteban Daniel contributed nine.

Douglas’ JV coach John Mariscal said his team played hard but the low shooting percentage and turnovers led to numerous fast break points for the Apaches.
