Call Center
City will turn over keys to new building by end of the week

Its almost time to hand over the keys.

By the end of this week, the city and construction crews will be ready to hand over the keys to the old Bayless building, now the new home to Advanced Call Center Technologies on 10th Street.

Semi-trucks have been dropping off hundreds of desks and other necessary office material to help furnish and complete the first 30,000 square feet of the facility.

“It will be 80 percent complete by the time we turn over the keys,” said Curtis Shook, Douglas City Administrator.

And it not coming a moment too soon.

The 200 to 300 workforce that was supposed to occupy the building by mid-December has already grown to 400.

The construction has been a group effort between city employees, the general contractor and state.

Construction crews have work long shifts in order to get the building ready by the December 15 deadline.

Shook said he was pleased with the City’s deal on the call center. The construction bid came under the proposed budget by $600,000. The loan package received a bonus when the original proposal of 7 percent interest came back at 5  percent interest, which will save the City about $1.3 million over a 20 year period, he said.

The City also received $275,000 from the State of Arizona’s Economic Strength grant. This money will go to improved 9th and 10th Street around the call center.

“There will be a lot of traffic in this area and so we want to widen and resurface the streets,” he said.

You must be in (Kansas) dreaming this building is for the Call Center, they signed a lease.
County can't even afford to buy TP.
As for the City of Douglas, they can afford to pay a loan for 9 Million Dollars.
    Tito
How does the City owe us Jobs??? Explain that one to me. "

" Kinda sad when the city spent all this money on a building, that will eventually be taken over by the county within a 5 year period. Brand new facility for the sheriff's department, adult/juvenile probation, etc. I'm sure the county would be more than happy to pay the same lease/rental fees, as they're currently paying. Right? I must be dreaming. I'm not in Kansas..... "
