The Masonic Lodge assists victims of domestic violence, and the Shrine club assists children who have suffered dreadful burns. Now, the Douglas Masonic Lodge and the Douglas Shrine Club are helping parents protect their kids from abductors.
“With CHIP we are able to digitally collect pertinent information such as finger prints, and photos and placed them on a CD for the parents to have at no cost to them,” said Joe Stemple, secretary of the Masonic Lodge in Douglas. “Should something happen to their child, this information can be uploaded onto the Amber Alert system allowing all Law Enforcement to respond quickly.”
On Wednesday December 17th lodge members will have a live radio interview with Howard Henderson at 930 a.m. to talk about CHIP.
On December 20 from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at Wal-Mart, lodge members will be hosting a free CHIP event for the public.
“The first two hours after a child is abducted are the most critical moments,” Stemple said. “We don’t want to see any children go missing, because two hours is too long to wait.”
