DOUGLAS — U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers stopped three drug-smuggling attempts on Wednesday, seizing approximately 250 pounds of marijuana, the agency said.

The driver, a 37-year-old female U.S. citizen, was arrested and turned over to Immigration and Customs Enforcement.
At about 5 p.m., a Mexican man, 24, driving a 1993 Chevrolet van was sent to a secondary inspection site by an officer. A narcotic detector dog screened the vehicle and gave a positive alert.
Officers discovered 21 packages of marijuana throughout the vehicle. The drugs weighed more than 47 pounds, and they were seized along with the vehicle.
The man was arrested and turned over to ICE.
At about 8:30 p.m., officers selected a 1993 Chevrolet pickup for a routine inspection. Based on the driver’s answers to questions and discrepancies with the vehicle, officers searched the vehicle and discovered five packages of marijuana weighing more than 48 pounds, in the spare tire. The driver, a 31-year-old male U.S. citizen, was arrested and turned over to ICE.
The approximate value of the seized drugs is $250,000.
