The new Best Western Hotel is only a few months  away from completion.

Hotel Project Superintendent Bob Zetterberg points out some features of the meeting room, top, while the rendering (right) shows the completed hotel.

Bob Zetterberg, Project Superintendent for the three-story hotel, said they expect to be completed in April.

The hotel, located near the corner of Pan American and 7th Street, will have 69 rooms, a meeting room, a swimming pool, fitness room along with a kitchen area and computer lounge.

Zetterberg said the hotel will have four different types of  rooms --- two queen-bed room, King bed room, King bed suite and King bed with Jacuzzi.

Construction began in July but went through some short delays due to monsoon rains.

Construction crews are nearly complete with framing, and soon will finish roughing in the HVAC, electrical and plumbing. The construction company is completing floors from the top down, starting with the third floor.

The site currently has 40 construction workers at the hotel, including Byrd’s Construction (completing the HVAC) and several other local residents working with the subcontractors.

The third floor will be ready for inspection on December 18; second floor on December 31, and the first  floor on January 9.

They should begin paving the site in February.

Hiring for the hotel should also begin in January or February.
