The Douglas Shrine Club and the Masonic Lodge bringing a Child Identification Program (CHIP) to Douglas

On Sunday January 11, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Douglas Wal-Mart, both the Masonic Lodge and Shrine club will be sponsoring the free event.

Both the Cochise Shrine Club and The Masonic Lodge have been involved in helping the Douglas community.  The Masonic lodge and the Shrine club have been supporting victims of Domestic Violence and the House of Hope.  We need to keep the women safe also; ensuring their safety is the other part of our mission. The Shine club and the shine hospital, assist children whom have suffered dreadful burns.  Now, both the Masonic lodge and Shrine club are stepping up and protecting our youth even more with the Child Identification Program or CHIP.

“Our CHIld Identification Program is geared to help law enforcement in the event of a child abduction.  We believe in keeping our community and youth safe, CHIP can help us achieve this.”

Everyday over 2,000 kids are reported missing or abducted having the information that CHIP offers is critical should any child go missing.  Our Child Identification Program allows the Masonic Lodge to document and record pertinent information such as digital finger prints, still photo, video; this along with their height, weight are placed on a CD at no cost to the parent.  A DNA kit is also part of the CHIP kit, and none of the information is retained on the system, this is automatically deleted.

Should something happen to the child, the information placed on the CD has the capability to load into the Amber Alert system, allowing all Law Enforcement to respond quicker.  We hope no one will ever have to use the CHIP kit, but if the parents ever need it, it’s there for them to use.

“Wal-Mart has been one of our greatest supporters, and supplied us with the consumables for this event.  All of our members of the Masonic lodge and Cochise Shrine Club have dedicated hundreds of hours in locating a program dedicated to protecting kids. Our Child Identification Program is what Douglas needs to help parents protect their kids. We won’t stop until Douglas has a CHIP kit in place. “
